Privacy-First Design: Engineer Your Life is built with privacy at its core. Your personal data stays on your devices. We do not collect, store, or have access to your goals, habits, health metrics, or any other personal information you enter into the app.
Engineer Your Life ("EYL", "we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our mobile applications and services.
Information We Do NOT Collect
Unlike many apps, EYL does not collect or transmit your personal data to external servers. The following information stays entirely on your device:
- Goals and Must-Win Outcomes: Your personal and professional goals remain private
- Habits and Completions: Your daily habits and tracking data
- Health Metrics: Data from Apple HealthKit including heart rate, sleep, activity, and other health information
- Focus Sessions: Your focus blocks and deep work sessions
- Notes and Reflections: Any personal notes or journal entries
- Calendar Data: Events synced from your calendar
Apple HealthKit Integration
EYL integrates with Apple HealthKit to display health and fitness metrics within the app. This integration is governed by strict privacy protections:
- Health data is read directly from HealthKit on your device
- We never transmit HealthKit data to external servers
- Health data is never sold, shared, or used for advertising
- You control which health categories EYL can access through iOS Settings
- You can revoke HealthKit access at any time
Health data types we may request access to include:
- Heart rate and heart rate variability
- Sleep analysis
- Activity and exercise minutes
- Step count
- Mindful minutes
iCloud Sync
If you enable iCloud sync, your EYL data is stored in your personal iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit framework:
- Data is encrypted in transit and at rest
- Data is stored in your private iCloud container, accessible only to you
- We cannot access your iCloud data
- Syncing is optional and can be disabled at any time
- Your data is governed by Apple's privacy policy when stored in iCloud
Information We Collect
We collect minimal information necessary to provide our services:
Subscription Information
When you subscribe to EYL, Apple handles all payment processing. We receive:
- Subscription status (active, expired, or in trial)
- Subscription type (monthly or yearly)
- Transaction identifiers for purchase verification
We do not receive your payment details, credit card numbers, or Apple ID.
Anonymous Analytics (Optional)
We may collect anonymous, aggregated analytics to improve the app:
- App crashes and error reports
- Feature usage patterns (not linked to personal data)
- Device type and iOS version
Analytics never include personal content, health data, or identifiable information. You can opt out of analytics in the app settings.
How We Use Information
The limited information we collect is used to:
- Verify your subscription status and provide access to premium features
- Improve app stability and fix bugs
- Understand which features are most valuable to users
- Respond to support requests you initiate
Data Security
We implement appropriate security measures to protect your information:
- All data on your device is protected by iOS security features
- iCloud data is encrypted using Apple's security infrastructure
- Subscription verification uses Apple's secure StoreKit framework
- We use HTTPS for any network communications
Third-Party Services
EYL integrates with the following third-party services:
- Apple HealthKit: For health metric integration (governed by Apple's privacy policy)
- Apple CloudKit: For optional iCloud sync (governed by Apple's privacy policy)
- Apple StoreKit: For subscription management (governed by Apple's privacy policy)
We do not integrate with advertising networks, social media trackers, or data brokers.
Children's Privacy
EYL is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
Your Rights
You have control over your data:
- Access: Your data is stored locally and you can access it anytime within the app
- Export: You can export your data from within the app
- Deletion: Uninstalling the app removes all local data. iCloud data can be deleted through iOS Settings
- Portability: Your data is stored in standard formats and can be exported
California Privacy Rights
California residents have additional rights under the CCPA:
- We do not sell personal information
- We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising
- You may request deletion of any data we hold about you
International Users
EYL is designed to comply with international privacy regulations including GDPR. Since we do not collect or store personal data on our servers, there is no cross-border data transfer of your personal information.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by:
- Posting the new policy on this page with an updated date
- Notifying you through the app
